CHERYL A. HARRIS is a professional designer, illustrator, fine artist and muralist. Her versatility as an artist allows her to offer these services to corporations, hospitals, foundations and private consumers. She is known for her beautifully rendered Corporate Exectutive portrait gifts which are given to honor the accomplishments of the recipients.
Cheryl is an "OFFICIAL TRAIL OF PAINTED PONIES ARTIST" and designer of "KEEPER OF THE SACRED FIRE". This collectible figurine was released by the Trail of Painted Ponies, Inc. in the 2009 Summer Herd of Ponies. She is also the designer of the 2010 Holiday Pony and Christmas Ornament, "HOLIDAY S'MORES & MORE", the Spring 2012 Pony, "NAVAJO SAND PAINTER" and Fall 2013 Pony, "TIN STAR SHERIFF" .
Her artistic and God-given talents began to show at an early age. She was honored to receive the outstanding Art Award of 1975 upon graduation from Covington High School in western Indiana. She pursued her love for art by attending Ivy Tech College in Columbus, IN where she received a Degree in Visual Art & Design (Commercial Art) in 1977. Her commercial and technical training allowed her to be immediately employed in the visual arts field. In 2009, she was chosen to be one of 22 Alumni Graduates in the 35 year history of the Fine Art and Visual Art Department of the College to have their work showcased in a travelling exhibit "Exceeding Expectations, An Exhibit of Outstanding Alumni and their Professional Work".
Her art career spans 37 years since college and has included experience as a graphic designer for a large children's furniture manufacturer in Columbus, IN, a technical product illustrator for a retail chain of stores in Akron, OH and 14 years as an Art Director for a full-service advertising and marketing firm in Indianapolis, IN working on medium to large corporate accounts.
In 1993 she began CHERYL A. HARRIS Design and Illustration. Longing to be independent with her art, she relocated to her hometown area of Covington, IN where her studio is located and pulls her work from various regional cities. To add to her commercial portfolio of work she pursued a career in the fine art field. Diverse in both painting and drawing she began to enter regional, juried fine art festivals and trade events to exhibit and sell her original works. To date she has appeared in nearly 300 show event dates. Her love for animals and nature has inspired her to create a series of signed and numbered limited edition art prints of her detailed pencil renderings which are offered in these events.
Cheryl is also a muralist. Her work includes interior and exterior residential and commercial mural paintings on walls, ceilings and floors. In 1993 she was honored to win the commission bid to design and paint a large-scale wall mural in the newly-built gymnasium of her high school alma mater. She designed the current center court floor art as well. A highlight for Cheryl was being asked to "restore/repaint" a large section of the historic murals in the Fountain County Courthouse. She is responsible for restoration on the middle section of the Bertha J. Lacey Civil War Mural.
Being diverse allows Cheryl to be proficient in many avenues of art and she is readily available for new challenges. If you are interested in working with Cheryl on a commissioned project of choice or purchasing some of the artwork shown, see CONTACT CHERYL on this website.
